ABOUT THE HOST

Drew Chicone isn’t defined by a single discipline—and if you spend five minutes with him, that becomes pretty obvious.

He’s built a life at the intersection of craft, adventure, and storytelling, driven by curiosity and a relentless attention to detail. A lifelong outdoorsman, Drew uses fly tying, cooking, teaching, and travel as tools to better understand the natural world… and occasionally outsmart it.

Internationally recognized in fly fishing, he has spent decades exploring remote fisheries, designing innovative fly patterns, and refining the details most people overlook. He’s the kind of angler who adjusts a fly by a few fibers or moves you two feet on a flat—because small changes make all the difference.

It’s not about overthinking.

It’s about caring enough to get it right.

His work is a mix of technique and personal connection: to people, to place, and to purpose. Whether at the vise, on the water, or behind a cutting board, everything ties back to craftsmanship and intention. He doesn’t just teach — he explains why it matters, usually with a story, a laugh, and just enough sarcasm to keep it interesting.

As both teacher and lifelong student, Drew has coached everyone from first-time anglers to seasoned pros — including actors, athletes, and musicians — helping them improve quickly while enjoying the process. At the same time, he continues to learn and refine the experience wherever he goes.

As the host of Thin Space, Drew brings everything into alignment—pairing people and place, challenge and comfort, craft and conversation. Whether on the water or around a shared meal, he creates the space for real moments to unfold—usually with a dad joke and a bit of his grandfather’s wisdom along the way.
